Why You Can't Use These Emojis Yet

Here's the simple explanation: Even though Unicode 17.0 launches this fall, you won't see these emojis on your devices until 2026.

The process works like this:

  1. Unicode releases the standard (Fall 2025)
  2. Companies like Apple and Google design their versions (Takes months)
  3. They update their operating systems (Early 2026)
  4. Email clients update to support them (Throughout 2026)

Until all these steps are complete, sending these new emojis in emails means recipients might see blank squares or question marks instead of your intended emoji.
